Follow a step-by-step guide on how to run your 5AXISMAKER 5XM Machine. Before using the machine for the first time, read this Quick Setup Guide.
1. Unpack 5AXISMAKER 5XM and check the components.
2. Prepare Machine Hardware
Unpack the unit from its crate, clean all linear rails, racks and a ballscrew with a clean cotton cloth, lubricate those parts with a low viscosity oil (e.g. 3-IN-ONE® Multi Purpose Oil) and apply regularly depending on your workflow.
3. Connect the Power Cable
Connect the power cord to the Electronics Box and then plug the power cord into an electrical outlet. The plug may differ by country
Connect Electronics box to the computer using the USB cable.
4. Switching the Power Switch
Make sure electronics box is OFF. Connect cables 1-7, Sensors, Tools and Spindle cable. Check for emergency button to be released. Switch ON the machine’s power switch. The initial operations start, you should hear activating sound that activates the spindle.
Keep all cable connected, switch the machine off.
5. Install the Software and Firmware
Download files from USB that is included in the Tool Box. During installation of custom profiles connect Electronics Box to the computer via USB cable and have Electronics Box switched OFF. (There is enough power to keep controller powered on via USB). |
5.1 Install Mach4
Download latest version from https://www.machsupport.com/software/mach4/
When you run the downloaded file, you will be guided through the usual installation steps for a Windows program, allow Mach4 to use its default installation folder C:\Mach4
5.2 Install Pokeys Controller firmware (2_PoKeys_Setup_4_4_27a.exe)
5.3 Load Mach4 Pokeys plugin - copy to “Plugins” (C:)\ Mach4Hobby\Plugins folder (Mach4PoKeysPlugin.m4pw and Mach4PoKeysPlugin.sig files)
5.4 Load 5axismaker profile for Mach4 (4_5A-01Serial number.m4pro)
5.5 Install Mach4 License (mach4-hobby+name.txt) we send license via email after you send us PC ID. To read more about how to check PC ID click here.
6. Use the Control Software (Mach4) to Operate the Machine
Open Mach and follow in the same order:
RESET - Activate the Machine
HOME - Run Auto-calibration and tool measurement (this is done once every time machine is switched on) Open - Load g-code file
START - Run g-code (Load G-code before pressing Start)
What is G-code? G-code is a text file with set of points for XYZBC which tells machine how to move based on this list of coordinates. |
7. Log-in to 5Xtrim and generate G-code for your first batch of aligners
To log-in go to https://5xtrim.com and enter machine serial number. To learn more about 5Xtrim read here.
8. Run G-code in Mach4
OPEN - load G-code file
START - run your first cut
Once all the steps are complete start preparing your batches of aligners, streamline your production and produce results fast.
